OTOW Bocce Club

The On Top of the World (OTOW) Bocce Club isn’t just about tossing balls on a court; it’s a thriving community within a community, where players of all ages come together to celebrate the timeless game of bocce. Led by the newly elected president, Pam Brown, along with a dedicated team of officers and league representatives, the club is gearing up for an exciting season ahead. Pam, a resident since 2021, brings a fresh perspective and boundless enthusiasm to her role, ensuring that the club continues to flourish under her leadership.

At the heart of the club’s activities are the renowned Best of Bocce Tournaments and the eagerly anticipated annual banquet, where members come together to celebrate their shared passion for the game. Beyond these events, the club offers many opportunities for both seasoned players and newcomers alike. Every week, the club hosts open bocce sessions on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings at 8:30 am, welcoming players to enjoy the game in the fresh air, weather permitting. There are 6 bocce courts at OTOW that can accommodate up to 48 players at a time.

One of the unique aspects of the OTOW Bocce Club is its commitment to inclusivity and accessibility. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or a complete novice, the club provides everything you need to get started. From the set of community balls kept conveniently under the seats at the bocce courts to the affordable annual dues that eliminate the need for expensive equipment, bocce truly is a game for everyone.

For those curious about the game, the club even offers a generous three-day trial period, allowing newcomers to experience the joy of bocce before making a commitment. With games typically lasting anywhere from an hour to a few hours, it’s the perfect way to unwind and connect with friends and neighbors.

Bocce isn’t just about competition; it’s about camaraderie and community. Pam emphasizes that leagues are the backbone of the OTOW Bocce Club, providing a structured yet inclusive environment for players to come together and hone their skills. From October through April, league play unfolds on a regular schedule, with teams of four players competing against one another to accumulate points throughout the season.

The culmination of the league season is the eagerly awaited Best of Bocce tournament, where the top teams vie for glory and bragging rights. Yet, even beyond organized play, many members find themselves drawn to the courts outside of scheduled times, simply because they love the game and the sense of belonging it brings.

Indeed, bocce is more than just a pastime; it’s a reflection of the diverse personalities and passions within the OTOW community. From the competitive edge displayed on the courts to the lighthearted banter shared among friends, the club offers something for everyone.

For Pam and many others, bocce represents an opportunity to shine in a way they might not otherwise experience in traditional sports. It’s a game that rewards strategy and skill but also leaves plenty of room for laughter and friendship along the way.

So, whether you’re a seasoned player or a curious newcomer, Pam encourages all to give bocce a try. With its blend of accessibility, affordability, and undeniable fun, the OTOW Bocce Club invites you to join in the excitement and discover the joy of bocce for yourself.
