Woodshop Club

Within On Top of the World lies a haven for woodworking enthusiasts. Founded on principles of craftsmanship, camaraderie, and creative expression, the Woodshop Club offers residents a unique opportunity to hone their woodworking skills while fostering meaningful connections with fellow artisans. Housed within the Hobby Building, the woodshop has just over 2,000 square feet of workspace, open for member use every day from 6 am to 10 pm.

Established several years ago, the Woodshop Club has become a cornerstone of the community, attracting members from diverse backgrounds and skill levels. Volunteers play a crucial role in running the club, handling everything from administration and operations to maintenance and education. Whether newcomers to the craft or seasoned woodworkers, all are welcomed with open arms and encouraged to explore their passion for woodworking in a supportive environment.

One of the club’s most striking features is its well-equipped workshop, presenting an impressive array of tools and machinery. From SawStop table saws and jointers to lathes and planers, members have access to everything they need to bring their projects to life. And with over 330 members at the end of 2023, the club is a bustling hub of activity.

Safety is paramount here, and new members undergo a thorough orientation covering policies, rules, and the safe operation of machinery. With a focus on education, the club provides an extensive library of videos offering in-depth training on machine operations, as well as tutorials on using jigs and tools. Additionally, hands-on workshops are held frequently throughout the year, covering a wide range of topics to cater to various interests and skill levels.

But it’s not just about personal projects; the Woodshop is deeply involved in community outreach. Members dedicate their time and skills to assist non-woodshop residents with household projects, clocking over 500 hours of community service in 2023 alone. Whether it’s building sets for the Paradise Players or lending a helping hand to neighbors in need, the Woodshop Club is committed to making a positive impact beyond its walls.

Monthly board meetings provide members with a voice on the club’s direction, ensuring that everyone has a chance to contribute and shape its future. With a philosophy that welcomes all skill levels and encourages collaboration, the Woodshop Club is more than just a place to work on projects—it’s a home for like-minded individuals united by their passion for woodworking.
