Andy Jorgensen, Director of Golf Maintenance for On Top of the World in Ocala, Fl, recently won the GCSAA’s 2022 Presidents Award for Environmental Stewardship.
GCSAA’s Presidents Award for Environmental Stewardship was established in 1991 to recognize “an exceptional environmental contribution to the game of golf – a contribution that further exemplifies the golf course superintendent’s image as a steward of the land.”
Jorgensen has been with On Top of the World since 2005, where he has since overseen the maintenance of On Top of the World’s three award-winning courses, including Candler Hills Golf Club, recently voted the 10th Best Golf Course in Florida to play in 2022, The Tortoise & The Hare and The Links.
No stranger to the spotlight, Jorgensen has been awarded numerous times in the industry for his work. This past year Jorgensen received the “Wreath of Grass,” which honors members of the Florida Turfgrass Association for their outstanding commitment to the turfgrass industry.
When not at On Top of the World, Jorgensen serves several advisory boards including the University of Florida Institute for Food and Agriculture Sciences Plant Science and the Research and Education Unit in Citra, Florida.
