Each year, National Read Across America Day is celebrated on March 2nd. This annual event is a part of Read Across America, an initiative on encouraging reading created by the National Education Association. March 2nd also is famous children’s author Dr. Seuss’s birthday making this holiday widely celebrated in schools to foster literature appreciation in young student’s lives.

Located conveniently in Circle Square Commons, Sid’s Coffee Shop & Deli now has a lending library in its cafe. The lending library concept was born from the idea that Sid’s is a place where guests become friends. The library provides guests with an opportunity to strike up a conversation over books. “Being right next to Master the Possibilities, the not-for-profit Lifelong Learning Education Center, we wanted to ride off the education element they provide to students and have our customers explore their interests and passions through books at Sid’s,” says longtime Sid’s employee, Catie Richard. “It is a conversation starter for guests.”

The lending library has a simple concept. Guests may borrow or take a book home by donating a book in its place. We encourage our guests to visit Sid’s Coffee Shop & Deli and celebrate National Read Across America Day over a delicious cup of coffee! Win-win!
