Live Oak International is the country’s largest international-level combined driving and show jumping tournament, with participants traveling from all over North America and Europe. It is also the only combined driving and show jumping tournament in the United States. Live Oak International is held at Live Oak Stud in Southwest Ocala, Florida, and it boasts three days of ringside hospitality and show-stopping entertainment. Many Colen Built Development residents move to the area and are naturally intrigued by Ocala’s equestrian events and industry. “We travel across the country for pickleball tournaments, and we are thoroughly impressed with the organization, atmosphere, and volunteers at On Top of the World – especially since this is the inaugural tournament. The feedback we’ve received from players has been extremely positive, and they can’t wait to play again next year,” said Todd Jungling, co-founder of PickleballMAX.

Although the tournament was hosted at On Top of the World, the 264 players traveled all over the East Coast to compete. Over 70% of the players traveled to Ocala for the tournament from Connecticut, Vermont, Pensacola, Okeechobee, Mt. Dora, Lady Lake, and Tampa. “14 of our local pickleball members traveled to On Top of the World for the tournament. We are avid pickleball players and are very impressed with the communication and logistics of the Battle of the Paddle Tournament. The pickleball courts are in excellent condition, and we look forward to participating next year,” stated Matt Schwartz, a Lady Lake, Florida resident.

Pickleball has proven to be a fast-growing sport among players of all ages. The sport combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. An On Top of the World resident, Mary Kay Ripp, moved to On Top of the World from Minnesota due to the sunny Florida conditions and the 29 pickleball courts in the community. “I moved to On Top of the World because I love to play pickleball. The resident pickleball club is very active, with over 600 members. We meet seven days a week, and it’s a great way to exercise and meet new friends!” says Mary Kay Ripp.

Recognizing the popularity among the residents, On Top of the World expanded from six pickleball courts to 29 active courts within the community. A selection of courts also has lights so residents can enjoy play from daylight to 9 p.m. On Top of the World Communities is Central Florida’s premier active-adult community with unmatched recreational amenities, over 175 resident clubs, and superior, energy-efficient homes. On Top of the World is currently selling move-in ready and new construction homes. For more information, please visit OnTopofTheWorldCommunities.com or call 866-228-5878.

The post Inaugural Pickleball Tournament Brings Hundreds to On Top of the World in Ocala, Florida appeared first on On Top of the World Communities.

The Top Pickleball Club was proud to host the very first Battle of the Paddle Pickleball Tournament in early March 2025. The tournament was a great success, with players traveling from all over the East Coast to participate. When the Top Pickleball Club was preparing and practicing for the inaugural tournament, players strategized among each other to maximize talent, particularly in the doubles divisions.

John Massey and Laura Naida, both On Top of the World residents and members of the Top Pickleball Club, were suggested to be mixed doubles partners for the tournament by a group of competitive pickleball players. The two members officially met just 10 days before the tournament and practiced rigorously to establish on-court chemistry and rhythm. John and Laura took the tournament by storm and ended up winning gold in the mixed doubles division at the Battle of the Paddle Tournament. “It’s crazy to think we met just 10 days ago and won 12 straight games to take the gold in our division. I am forever grateful to the Top Pickleball Club for matching us as doubles partners. I now have a pickleball partner and friend for life!” says John Massey.

The Top Pickleball Club is a great way for our residents to exercise, socialize, and compete! This club meets seven days a week and is open to all community residents. For more information about the club, please visit https://toppickleballclub.com/.

On January 15th, 2025, Master the Possibilities hosted a crime prevention symposium at the Circle Square Cultural Center in Ocala in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General and other community organizations. The event titled “Senior Scam Seminar” focused on equipping attendees with knowledge and resources to avoid becoming victims of crime, particularly financial exploitation, cybercrime, and scams.

Overview:

As attendees entered the theatre, they were greeted by various informational booths, including Crime Prevention, the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), On Top of the World Community Patrol, Seniors vs. Crime, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. The CERT team educates residents on disaster preparedness and safety and provides helpful tips for staying safe in emergencies. A key takeaway was their partnership with Advent Health to promote the HELP or OK sign, which can be displayed at the front of homes during emergencies to signal whether help is needed or not. A motto emphasized during the event was “Be Aware, Be Prepared.”

Attorney General Moody discussed the evolving nature of scams targeting seniors, including the common “Grandchild in Jail” scam, where a scammer pretends to be a grandchild in distress and asks for money to be sent urgently. In times of distress, we are all more susceptible to scams. She also highlighted the importance of staying informed, mentioning the Senior Protection Program launched in 2019 to combat scams and provide resources for seniors. The program’s “Scams at a Glance” pamphlet series, including the newly released edition “Grandparents Grifts,” was distributed to attendees to help recognize and avoid fraud.

The symposium was a resounding success, with a high turnout. It left participants more informed about the risks they face and the steps they can take to protect themselves and their families.
