(Ocala, FL – March 23, 2018) Despite the Charity Pro-Am being cancelled because of forecasted inclement weather, the 2018 Ocala Open Professional Golf Tournament was greeted with blue skies and crisp air for the day 3-day tournament held March 21st -23rd, 2018. Kevin Aylwin ended the tournament with a 199 to capture the 2018 Ocala Open title. Competing against 142 other talented and world class professional golfers on The Candler Hills Golf Club’s challenging Par-72 course, Kevin’s 3-day total was 199 and earned him $12,000.

The real winners of this event are the two charities who shared $85,000, each receiving $42,500, which was raised through generous sponsorships from the local businesses that support and embrace this annual tournament. This year’s Ocala Open donations bring the 12-year combined charitable funds raised to a total of $573,000.

Funds raised during this tournament benefit Hospice of Marion County, Inc. and Interfaith Emergency Services. Both are not-for-profit organizations that provide support services for Marion County residents in need. Hospice of Marion County, Inc. provides compassionate care for the terminally ill along with support services for their families/caregivers. Interfaith Emergency Services provides basic necessities and emergency financial assistance to people of all faiths within our community.
The 12th Annual Ocala Open was a great success for these two charities and would not be possible without the generous support of local businesses including our Platinum Partner Greenberg Traurig.
